Alsalam alaykum (peace be upon you), my name is Vanessa and I’m starting this blog to document sustainability from an Islamic perspective. You don’t have to be Muslim or religious to care about the environment or to read my blog, everyone is welcome!
I believe that a lot of people do care about the environment and global warming is something that already affects our planet. I also think there is often a lot of ignorance and misinformation surrounding this topic and unfortunately it translates into lack of action. As a Muslim, I believe in Judgment Day and therefore I am aware that even the Earth will testify against us… I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be called out by the planet! I would like to use this message to remind fellow Muslims of our responsibility and let it at least be at the forefront of our actions. Of course, this is not the only reason why we should care about our environment, there are multiple factors such as the current natural disasters affecting numerous countries, future generations that will be forced to deal with our current actions etc.
Note: I hope to address most of the issues in detail in future dedicated blog posts.
